I'm one of the finalist!!!

Just want to share that im one of the finalist of Scrap-n-Crop's Project Scrap-Away. This is completely overwhelming. They asked us to send in our favorite LO to them then they will choose 15 finalists to join the contest. And I'm so lucky to be able to get a spot! And were done with the first challenge.... the first challenge was to get an ad inspiration and make a layout based on it. There will be a winner each week and 2 will be eliminated. Whew! I have to admit, this was hard for me... I spent so much time choosing the right ad to draw inspiration from. I was more pressured in finding the ad!!! And to add more pressure, guess who's our judge.... It's Rhonna F. ! Time was ticking away!!! Here's my take on the first challenge...
here's my inspiration...
And my take....A little note: I choose this camera lens ad catalog as my inspiration for my page. The moment I saw this ad I immediately fell inlove with the colors green and dark pink as against the background black(the body of the lens) and white (page background). So what i did for my page was to use shades of green and dark pink. I also used black to give emphasis on my page elements such as the paint around the photo, the black outline of the pattern paper (just like how the cover of the lenses outlined the colors pink and green) and also inking and painting on almost all the elements. I also turned my son's picture into black and white also to mimic the black and white background of the ad. I also love to paint on my pages and love to use chipboard embellishments too!
Title: This boy makes me smile
Journaling: See that face?! Thats the face that makes me smile. I love it everytime he does that or just about anything to it just to make me smile. Youre just so good at it... baby - mommy.

King of my Heart & Bride

These are my round three entries for Mystical Scrapbooks. Part A of the challenge was, were were asked to make a 12 x 12 LO using techniques from last weeks round which others shared and we should used 2 photos of different sizes.
Here's my take...

Techniques: Bubble Wrap Stamping, Doodling, Inking, layered flower tech (although I used Heart shapes on this)

Title: King of my Heart

Journaling: harvey, its amazing how you grown to be a sweet boy. Your smile never fails to brightened up my day. It always bring cheer to my heart even in my lowest. You really know my heart so well... youre the king of it.Materials Used: PPS - 7Gypsies, Rusty Pickle, JB; MM Black paint; Versa Ink Black; Pebeo 3d Black; maya road sheers; AC thickers; Black mesh; CI Stickers

Then Part B was.. we were asked to make 1 monochromatic layout, the size should be 8.5X11, we should only use products from 3 brands and a handmade embellishment. This was quite hard for me because of the 3 brand requirement. I had to dig out my stash just to look for materials that will fit this requirement. Here's my take on the monochromatic challenge...

My color --- Aqua

The Handmade Embellishemt was the circles in the center for the flowers and the leaves.

The 3 brands that I used were:

prima - Pattern paper(sassy pants), flowers and alpha crystals

Heidi Grace - Pattern paper(Winnefred St),Punch boards(diecut)

Kaiser Crafts - Wood flourish, wood flower, Paint

Harvey joined the Santacruzan...

Santacruzan is an event here in the Philippines that happens every May. A month ago, The school asked me if Harvey could join their Santacruzan on May 17. Of course I was so happy we were asked. I was told that harvey should wear a chinese costume since the parade's theme will be United Nations. Come May 17, my husband and I were having 2nd thoughts whether or not Harvey will join in the parade because of the bad weather Manila has been experiencing. But last minute change in plans were made... I've called Henry to let Harvey join the parade. The weather was a little bit gloomy, but there were no rains. Here are some of his pictures....
My little Chinese Boy...
And this is the band... Poor baby, very thirsty... The Hermano Mayors --- City mayor Fred Lim and School Owner Ms. Soliven
Picture with the Reyna Elena... More photos after the parade
I can tell that Harvey really enjoyed this experience. too bad I was not there to witness it..(sudden changes in the plans hihi). But Im still glad Harvey was able to join the parade and wear this cute Chinese costume.

Surprise Card - Got Sketch # 62

Im so happy to be doing another sketch for Valerie. This time was a little different, I made a card for her card sketch... Here's her sketch... And here's my take on her sketch...
I've use American Crafts papers & rubons and used Inque Bouique Cupcake Stamp then colored it with water colored pencils. I really enjoyed doing this one!!!

Scrapfest 5

I woke up really early that day... prepared a few more things before going to the scrapfest. This is one event here in the Philippines that scrappers always look forward to. We left the house around 8:45 in the morning then went to Buendia KFC to meet a newbie Anabelle Tan then off to Max's Quezon City. We arrived at the venue 9:45 am and the venue was almost filled with scrapbook enthusiasts. I think all of us had a great time during the event. There were lots of demos, raffles and challenges. Everyone went home not only with new scrap materials to play with but also some new found friends. Ive only finished a page for the mini album demo. I was so busy checking out the stores and chatting with friends... Here's my page. And thanks Ms. Iris Uy for teaching us the stamping techniques!!! I will try to finish everything during the weekend. Then around 4:30 pm, Liza B announced the challenge for everyone... All of us were divided in to advance & newbie scrappers. In the advance category, we were given 3 pattern papers to use, 1 white cardstock and a corrugated board to incorporate in the layout. We were all allowed to use other scrapmaterials we wish to use, provided that the mentioned materials should be present in the layout. The challenge theme was "Everyday Moments". We were given an hour and a half to finish and it gave me a backache because I was standing the whole time. (because of the pressure hehehe). The winner of the contest will bring home a Canon Selphy Printer. Here's my layout...Im was not so lucky in taking home the Canon Selphy Printer but my layout won Scrapbookshawaii's choice and I got this as my prize... a kit from Daisy ds. Thanks so much Scrapbookshawaii. I also got this as one of my raflle prizes... from bokoto. thanks so much for this.
Too bad I wasnt able to join the Jazz up your tool bag because I was so busy chatting with my seatmates. This tool bag was in my bag all along. I didnt hear the announcement about the last call that was made regarding this.. Neway, just wanted to share waht I did with my tool bag. I just made it simple....

Actually, I dont have photos of the scrapfest... I was so busy with the workshops & shopping that I forgot to take pictures. Huhu! Here are the only shots I had... This is my dear friend Issa Winning the Mini-Book Challenge. And Jane of Rekindled Moments congratulating Pia for winning here KI Challenge.

A technique and A Layout...

Im in my round 2 at Mystical Scrapbooks and the week challenge was for us to demo a favorite technique (with pics) and then make a layout using the technique. This was my first time to make such for a challenge. I made this night time and I had a hard time trying to get a picture of myself doing the technique (im the only one awake, henry was already sleeping - no one to help take the pics).
Sharing to you one of my fave techniques... Paint, Stamp, Emboss, Paint Chipboard.
Materials needed:
1. paint (blue, yellow & glod glaze)
2.stamp
3.clear ink
4.clear embossing powder
5. heat gun
6.chipboard
Step 1. Paint chipboard with desired color...let it dry

Step 2. Get a stamp (i choose a script stamp) stamp image in the painted chipboard using clear ink then emboss using clear embossing powder

Step 3. paint with another desired paint (acorn color)
Step 4. brush with gold glaze to give dimesion...
* you can use diamond claze as the final coating to give it a glossy finish.
And this is the layout Ive made using the technique.
